Great Changes at Maybury Farm

Richard (or Leon) the Llama Tom the Turkey
Tuesday and Wednesday, our miniature ponies  The addition of Tuesday and Wednesday, our miniature horses, was a real plus for the little ones. The children just couldn’t get enough of them and would always assure us that they would come back just to see them! Tuesday and Wednesday just love the kids as well!
Our friendly animals were such a hit that this little visitor could not stop laughing. He thought the goat trying to get out was just the best! Actually everyone around this little guy was laughing—and that is really what Maybury Farm is all about.  Child petting goats
Family watching animals Visitors of all ages enjoyed getting up close and personal with the animals. The new petting area was a real hit. Guests were treated to a variety of ducks this year. And our chickens did much better –many comments on the beautiful feathers. We added several new varieties and all were a hit!
The addition of peacocks on the farm were a special surprise especially when they fanned their beautiful feathers. We thank all of our volunteers who helped build and secure the peacock cages. We are looking forward to more variety of birds in 2009.  Peacock
Family eating lunch at a picnic table

Guests liked and used the expanded picnic area and the addition of six more picnic tables. We now have 12 picnic tables. Many thanks to our Eagle Scouts.

Building a Lean-To Volunteers helped build the lean-to for the animals in the new mini pastured (picture left) and guests really seemed to liked being able to pet the animals. (pictured below).

When we are in need, our volunteers are always there to help. Here they secure the Turkey Coop.  Our turkeys were in peril and these folks stepped right up to secure the cages. Thank you!

Volunteers from Ford In 2008, Maybury Farm had over 325 volunteers helping at the Farm from April through December. Without all of this help we could never accomplish all that we have. Our thanks go to YOU, the volunteers who have truly brought Maybury Farm back to life.

If you would like to volunteer, please call (248)374-0200.

THANK YOU!
